Our hospitality journey represents a natural evolution of the family's relationship with Shimla and its visitors.

The next way
of welcoming people.
For 150 years, people have come to Shimla and found their way to our counter. What began with provisions for travellers in 1873 became, in 2008, a place for them to stay, and in 2021 a place to sit down.
Three properties now carry the family name into the hills and onto the Mall and the Ridge, each built on the same principle: look after people properly and they come back for generations.

Marigold Sarovar Portico
Our hospitality journey began in 2008 with Marigold Holiday Cottages in Mashobra, now Marigold Sarovar Portico.
The property represents our first major step into hospitality and our continued connection with the hills, a quiet stretch of country above Shimla that the family has known for as long as it has been in business.

Cafe 1873
Established in 2021, Cafe 1873 brings the family's 150-year heritage into a contemporary food and beverage experience.
Rooted in the history of Gainda Mull Hem Raj and named for the year it began, Cafe 1873 represents the next chapter of our relationship with the people and visitors of Shimla.

Cafe 1873, The Ridge
Opened in 2025, our second Cafe 1873 location brings the experience to one of Shimla's most recognisable landmarks.
The Ridge has been the centre of public life in this city for as long as our family has traded here.
